In this book, BTS shares personal, behind-the-scenes stories of their journey so far through interviews and more than three years of in-depth coverage by Myeongseok Kang, who has written about K-pop and other Korean pop culture in various media. Presented chronologically in seven chapters from before the debut of BTS to the present, their vivid voices and opinions harmonize to tell a sincere, lively, and deep story. About BTS
Kim Namjoon
Kim Nam-joon (Korean: 김남준) was born on September 12, 1994, in Dongjak District, Seoul, South Korea and grew up in Ilsan District, Goyang. He is the leader of BTS and main rapper of the group. Inspired by famous,world-renowned rappers, RM started appearing in underground hip hop circles and gaining popularity. He has IQ of 148 and in 2019 he graduated from Global Cyber Unversity with a degree in Broadcasting and Entertainment. He is always involved in every BTS album as a composer, lyricist and producer, and he has also produced songs for other artists. As a solo artist, RM has released two solo mixtapes so far, "RM" (2015) and "Mono" (2018) and a studio album "Indigo" (2022).
Kim Seokjin
Kim Seok-jin (Korean: 김석진) was born on December 4, 1992, in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. He is better known by the mononym Jin (진), and he has the positions of vocalist and visual. He has written the lyrics, and composed many songs in the BTS albums, along with his solo songs Awake (2016), Epiphany (2018) and Moon (2020). As a solo artist, Jin has released three self-composed digital singles, "이 밤 (Tonight)" in 2019, "Abyss" in 2020 and "슈퍼 참치 (Super Tuna)" in 2021. He then made his official solo debut with his first single album "The Astronaut" on October 28, 2022.
Min Yoongi
Min Yoon-gi (Korean: 민윤기) was born on March 9, 1993, in Daegu, South Korea. He is better known by his stage names SUGA (슈가) and Agust D and he is the lead rapper of the group. By age 13, he began to write music lyrics and learned about MIDI and he worked a part-time job at a recording studio by age 17. From then on, he began composing and arranging music, rapping, and performing. Before being signed, he was active under the name Gloss as an underground rapper. As a BTS member he actively takes part in producing, composing and writting the lyrics for the group's albums. He has also produced songs for other famous artists. As a solo artist, he has released two mixtapes under the alias Agust D: "Agust D" (2016), "D-2" (2020) and a studio album "D-Day" (2023)
Jung Hoseok
Jung Ho-seok (Korean: 정호석) was born on February 18, 1994, in Gwangju, South Korea. He is better known by his stage name j-hope (제이홉) and he is the main dancer and a rapper in the group. Before debuting with BTS, he was part of the underground dance team Neuron. j-hope had been relatively well-known for his skills in dance prior to his debut; he won various local prizes for dance, including placing first in a national dance competition in 2008. Just like the other two rappers of the group, he actively takes part in composing, producing and writting the lyrics of the BTS albums. As a solo artist, he has released his first mixtape "Hope World" (2018), and he then made his official solo debut with his first studio album "Jack In The Box" (2022).
Park Jimin
Park Ji-min (Korean: 박지민) was born on October 13, 1995 in Busan, South Korea. He is better known by the mononym Jimin (지민) and he is the lead vocalist and main dancer of the group. Prior to becoming a trainee, Jimin studied contemporary dance at Busan High School of Arts and was a top student in the modern dance department. He is a graduate of Global Cyber University with a degree in Broadcasting and Entertainment. As a BTS member he has taken part in composing and writing lyrics in several songs, including his solo songs, "Lie" (2016), "Serendipity" (2017) and "Filter" (2020). As a solo artist, Jimin has released two self-composed digital singles, "Promise" (2018) and "Christmas Love" (2020) and made his official solo debut with his first mini album "FACE" (2023).
Kim Taehyung
Kim Tae-hyung (Korean: 김태형) was born on December 30, 1995 in Daegu, South Korea. He is better known by his stage name V (뷔)and he is a vocalist, dancer and second visual in the group. V first aspired to be a professional singer in elementary school,and eventually began taking saxophone lessons in early middle school as a means of pursuing the career. V initially became a trainee for Big Hit Entertainment after passing an audition in Daegu. Just like RM and Jimin, he is a graduate of Global Cyber University with a degree in Broadcasting and Entertainment, and is pursuing a Masters degree in Business Administration in Advertising and Media at Hanyang Cyber University. As a BTS member he has taken part in composing and writing lyrics in several songs, including his solo songs, "Stigma" (2016), "Singularity" (2018) and "Inner Child" (2020). As a solo artist, V has released two self-composed unofficial songs, "풍경 (Scenery)" and "Winter Bear" in 2019. Apart his activites as a singer, he has also made his acting debut on 2016 with the drama 화랑 (Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth).
Jeon Jungkook
Jeon Jeong-guk (Korean: 전정국) was born on September 1, 1997, in Busan, South Korea. He better known by his stage name Jung Kook (정국) and he is the main vocalist, lead dancer and center of the group. He is also the maknae (the youngest) of BTS. Jungkook initially had dreams of becoming a badminton player when he was young, but after seeing G-Dragon perform "Heartbreaker" on television, it influenced him to want to become a singer. After his audition for the talent show Superstar K he received casting offers from seven entertainment companies. He eventually chose to become a trainee under Big Hit Entertainment after seeing RM, now his fellow band member and leader in BTS, perform. Just like all the member of BTS, he too actively takes part in writting lyrics for several of the group's songs, including his solo songs "Begin" (2016), "Euphoria" (2018) and "My Time" (2020). As a solo artist, he has released two self-produced unofficial songs, "Still With You" (2020) and "My You" (2022).
